GET INVOLVED

volunteer
with us

You can make a difference and enrich the lives of the people we support.

Volunteering in a residential aged care home can be a truly rewarding experience for both the residents and volunteers and is an excellent way to make a difference within your local community.

At Cro Care, volunteers are an integral part of our team who work together with our staff to complement the care we provide to residents through our Lifestyle programs.

By volunteering at Cro Care you can truly have an impact on the lives of someone who may require some assistance. You will be part of a special team, volunteering non-clinical support, care, and practical help for people at the last stage of their lives, and their loved ones.

Whether it’s offering companionship, social visits, helping residents to attend religious services, helping with arts and crafts, music, games, education, or support with one-off events – the possibilities are endless.

We would love to have you join us and help make a positive difference to the lives of others. We are always on the lookout for volunteers with appropriate skillsets and an interest to learn.

Our Mission

Victorian Croatian Aged Care Services (VCACS) aims to provide safety and care of the highest standard to our elderly, based on foundations of dignity, choice, and respect, while supporting each consumer as an individual, in the tradition of the Australian Croatian Community.

Our Values

INTEGRITY

Behaving in accordance with our professional, ethical, and legislative requirements. Using our resources responsibly and transparently.  We are honest and trustworthy.  We uphold the dignity and rights of our Consumers, their families and carers, the members of our community, our colleagues and each other.  We value the people we work with and their work.

COMMUNICATION

Consumers have the right to be heard and to be fully informed on all aspects of their care.  Methods of communication are appropriate to the abilities and experiences of each individual and tailored to each set of circumstances.

RISK TAKING

All Consumers are entitled to make decisions about their daily lives and activities.  This may, from time to time, result in a conflict between ensuring safety and maximising independence.  Consumers will be supported in their decisions to take reasonable risks.

CHOICE

Services are designed to be accessible and flexible, promoting ordinary lifestyles and based upon Consumers’ own choices.  Individual choice is promoted, within the limits imposed by service constraints.

INDEPENDENCE

Consumers are enabled to act independently. Services are aimed at maximising the individual’s capacity for self-care and mobility.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Consumers are expected to accept appropriate responsibilities, in consideration of their abilities and circumstances.  These may include having due regard for others, for property or for participation in Care Plans.

EXCELLENCE

Striving to attain the highest standards of service delivery and clinical practice. We achieve this by acknowledging, recognising, promoting innovation, participating in conscious learning, development, training and research. We come to work to make a difference and support each other.
